Want to know how to organize your baby dresser without having to buy a ton of organizer bins? I am here to tell you my favorite ways to organize a baby dresser.

This is my absolute favorite dresser that I got from Ikea. It doubles as a changing table and dresser. It has been of the best purchase I have made! I swear by this dresser. You can shop the same dresser here!

I wanted my babies dresser to have some organization to it and not just be thrown together. I also did not want to buy a ton of dividers to organize everything. I figured if I was able to come up with a way to designate each drawer to something and then find a good way to fold his clothes that it would be a simple way to keep his dresser organized.

Baby dresser organization was important to me. I wanted it to be functional and not go digging around every time that I needed something out of it.

These are my favorite, super simple, effective ways for baby dresser organization. I have tried many ways of folding and organizing and these are my tried and true favorites that I have stuck with.

You are going to learn about folding clothes, what should go on hangers, what to put in each drawer, and more!

This post is all about baby dresser organization ideas that you need to know about.

What To Put In Each Drawer

what to put in baby dresser vs closet

1. Socks, Socks, and More Socks

I like to dedicate one drawer for socks. I find it so much easier to fold them together and toss them in. They don’t get mixed in with other things and they are easy to find. It may not look the prettiest, but its efficient!  And let’s face it, how many people actually see the inside of the drawers? Not so many! Plus once they hit the toddler stage, if you know you know, they will be ripping everything out anyways. Sooo why not make it easy to put it back together. I love having the socks right under the changing pad. Makes it so much easier to grab when getting the kiddo dressed for the day.

2. Onesies

I find it so easy to have the onesies right under the socks. You are still right there when grabbing one out and if you fold them right, you can fit so many of them in there. My son doesn’t wear onesies as much these days, but when he did, I loved having them in this drawer and folded so that I could stack them to keep each other up and so that I could see which was what. I also coordinate them by sizes so that if I have some he hasn’t grown into yet, I know which column they are in. I keep smallest to the right and largest to the left. I like to organize by long sleeve too. I usually will have two rows for each size and split those into short and long sleeves. I do short in the first row and long in the second row. I never remember what is long and what is short. This helped so much so I can pick so much easier without taking a bunch out and having to put them back in. To make it even easier, you could label the rows on the drawer front top! This was always a goal, but I never got there, but it would make it that much easier!

3. Jeans, Sweats, Shorts

I like everything to be in the side that I have my baby. And well since bottoms usually go on last, I put them at the bottom of the dresser. I organize these much like the onesies in the drawer above. I do sweats of matching sets on the very left side and organize them from smallest to largest. I do jeans in the next column over, organized from smallest to largest. I then follow that with just regular sweats, smallest to largest. And finish out the drawer on the right side with shorts. I fold them up in a way that they keep each other secure. I am all about finding effective ways without spending loads of money. Sure, if you wanted it to be that much more organized, buy those dividers and organizer bins! I just chose to find simple ways to achieve an organized look without having to buy those things.

4. Miscellaneous

I use this drawer for the things I don’t know where else to put. Now I know that sounds messy but I mean things like my babies hats, extra wipes for the top of the dresser, binky clips, baby safe cotton swab, his eczema lotion, etc. I’m not going to lie, this drawer does get messed up pretty often just because it is a mix of random things. This would be a drawer you could add in some organizer bins, but for me it isn’t a huge deal. I know what is in there and I can always find it. I don’t treat it like a junk drawer which is important! Otherwise you are going to get quite the accumulation of items, if you know you know. So I only add the things that don’t have a place in the other drawers, but still like to have on hand in my babies dresser.

5. Jammies!

Pajamas were a bit of a struggle to get organized, for me. My son now wears a lot of the two piece pj sets. I didn’t want them to be separate I wanted them to be right there together read to grab. I am sure that I am not the only one who folds two piece pj sets like this, but incase you don’t know a great efficient wait o fold them, I am going to share with you the best way. I experimented so many ways that kept them together good, where I could still see what jammies they were, and saved space.

My favorite way to fold his two piece jammies! I’ll explain the pictures above for some extra help if needed!

  1. Fold the pants over two to three times depending on size.
  2. Add them to the top (with back facing up) placing the waistband down from the neckline of the top.
  3. Fold over the sleeves of the top. They will naturally fall into place, but give them a little guidance to help them lie flat.
  4. Then fold the bottom of the shirt over the pj bottoms so that the end of the shirt is sticking past the neckline.
  5. Flip of the jammies and then fold in the access ends of the pj top in between the neckline and the bottoms that you folded inside.
  6. You now have a nice compacted set of jammies that is all in one place. Easy to grab and saves you space!

6. Burp clothes, swaddles, and Special Blankets

I use the last bottom drawer to store the things that I don’t use as much of. Now that my son is older, He doesn’t use the burp rags or the swaddles so I have changed them out to just his drawer of blankets to keep it organized. But when they are little, I loved to have them all in one place for easy access. This made it easy to just grab and go! Still does his blankets in this spot. I hate having things stored in a hard to get to place that you have to go dig for. It is so much more convenient to have them right there in the dresser.

This post was all about baby dresser organization that is easy and inexpensive to have your babies dresser neat and organized for the best easy use!
